No more UBC?

I'm so sorry but I won't be able to complete UBC. Ya, its kind of disappointing. Guess I should've been smarter about it and NOT chosen a month when I had exams.

Great choice, Skipper. GREAT CHOICE.

*sigh* I guess I'll just have to continue with my regular blogging routine, huh?

'Get to know me' Tag - UBC Day 4

Yeah, I missed a day. But instead of moping around like I usually do, I'll actually focus on catching up! Yas!

1) Are you named after anyone?
- No.... Not that I know of, anyway.

2) When was the last time you cried?
- Last night? Yeah, I was just working on an assignment that was due the next day and it was pretty late and I just got a bit frustrated and though I wasn't outright sobbing, I guess you could say that I was sniffling. (Argh, I really didn't want to admit this but there it is).

3) Do you have kids?
- Guys, I'm only 14.... And if that doesn't clarify things properly, then no. I don't.

4) If you were another person, would you be friends with yourself?
- I like to think that I would.

5) Do you use sarcasm a lot?
- Most people can't tell when I'm being sarcastic but I try. I do try.

6) Will you ever bungee-jump?
- Given the chance, yes I'd love to.

7) What's your favorite cereal?
- Chocos.

8) What is the first thing you notice about people?
- Is this when I'm introduced to someone new? If so, then their body language in general?  I've never really thought about this in particular but yeah. Their body language in general.

9)What's your eye colour?
- Its the colour that rhymes with crown. And down . And frown.

( Ans: Brown)

10) Scary movie or happy endings?
- I don't watch a lot of scary movies sooo I'd go for ze happy endings!

11) Favourite smells?
- The rain, petrol and.... Please don't make fun of me. Ginger garlic paste.

12) Summer or winter?
- In India, we only have monsoons and summers. The only difference is that during December - February it gets sliiiightly chillier ( or is that my imagination? Nah). Its pretty warm here nearly ALL the time so I'd love to know what its like to enjoy Christmas and do winter-y stuff (building snowmen, sledding etc. ). So winter it is.

13) Computer or TV?
- Computer. Definitely.

14) What's the furthest you've ever been from home?
- Saudi Arabia. My dad was working there at the time so we spent my 3rd grade Summer vacation there.

15) Do you have any special talents?
- I can sing?

16) Where were you born?
- India.

17) What are your hobbies?
- Reading, Singing (accompanied by my own a cappella) and surfing the net are a few of the things I wuv to do. I also enjoy Anime and manga aaaand just plain old sketching.

18) Do you have any pets?
- Does a sharpener that looks like a fish count? I guess not? Anyway, I've been wanting a puppy for the longest time. My cousins got a puppy - a German Shepherd - and her name's Luna. It's not easy for them. So, I thought that I'd choose a breed that's easier to take care of. I've already got the names ready - Baxter (through extensive research), Buffy ( a contestant on Masterchef Australia had a dog named this. Thought it was cool) and Duster (it came up while deciding a name for Luna). Leaaaaning towards Baxter, though.

19) Favourite movie?
- I don't have a favourite but the ones that I really love are Interstellar, Zombieland, Sister Act, The Karate Kid and there are plenty more but for some reason, these ones were at the top of my head.

20) Do you have any siblings?
- Yes, a younger brother and a younger sister.

21) What do you want to be when you grow up?
- Happy and content with what I'm doing. That's all I'll say for now.

And that's it! Whoo! I tag anyone who hasn't done this tag and wants to do it. Please share!

Oh and also, I won't be posting until next week. Exams are coming up and I seriously NEED to start preparing. Oh Lord, will I ever be able to catch up?

Almost Having a Surgery - UBC Day 3

Okay, okay. I know that the title is bad. But trust me, I tried.

Let's get one thing straight. Barbie was a huge part of my childhood and it will always, ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. With that out of the way, let's get into today's post. This is gonna be just one story from "The Life of Skipper".
                               *****

Barbie Princess and the Pauper was one of me and my sister's favourite Barbie movie. We LOVED it. So, we decided that my sis' Lily would be Anneliese(the girl on the left) and I would be Erika(the cat at the bottom right..... I'm kidding. Erika's the girl in blue).

So there's this scene *spoiler alert* (Erm, I don't think an alert is necessary because either you wouldn't want to watch it OR you've already seen it but I guess I have to. The internet is a very sensitive place. ) where the prince, who was originally going to marry the princess (Anneliese) ends up falling for the pauper (Erika) and asks for her hand in marriage.

Hem, hem. This is where my part of the story comes in. I was around 6-7 years old, I think. It was on a Sunday night, only about the millionth time(I've seen it plenty times more since then) I'd seen this movie and when this part came on, an idea popped into my head. It seemed fun at the time but little did I know then how much I'd regret it later.

My mom had just bought me this ring. It wasn't made of plastic (this story would've been COMPLETELY different if it had. Trust me. ) but out of some sort of metal. I wanted to slip it on my finger the exact moment that he slipped it on hers.

The scene came and I tried to slip it on elegantly. It got halfway in but wouldn't move anymore after that. So, being the genius that I was, I headed to the wash basin and used water and soap to push it in as much as possible. It was a tight fit but I was pretty content........ Until the moment I wanted to take it off.

I pulled and I pulled. I went and used some more soap. This time, for the opposite purpose. Would. Not. Budge.

I was so scared. I had school the next day too. I went and told mom and after her failed attempts at trying to remove it, we decided to head to the Hospital. Yep.

The people there examined it and asked me questions like " How'd you put it on? ". They seemed pretty amused at the reply. Some attempts to remove it were made buuuuut ended with the same exact results.

Finally, this man came with a cutting tool and, with a bit of effort, cut it off. My Mom and I were so relieved. Although, I think she was even more so. And so, we headed home with much, much lighter hearts.

                             *****
So that's the story! I can't seem to remember what happened to the ring afterwards. But all's well that end well!

10 Things That Make Me Happy - UBC Day 2

Let's not beat around the bush and get straightaway down to business. So without further ado, here are 10 things that make me happy. Some are rational, others? Erm....Not so much.

1) Sticky notes. Yep, I love those things.

2) Oreoooos and milk! Talk about yum!

3) Long socks for school? I never really realized it until today. Currently, I'm staying at my grandparents' place (still there) and here, there are 4 kids - my litle cousin sister, brother, sister and moi - ALL going to the same school. Its plain torture, I tell ya, trying to find a pair of socks that actually at least look like they used to be mine. But today?
I finally found a pair which is my own. It was a blissfully sweet feeling to pull 'em on. (Wow. One huge paragraph all about socks. )

4) A good punny joke

5) Weird crazy random text conversations with friends online

6) Pistachios. Salted ones, especially.

7) When someone asks me for advice or help in matters other than studies. It just makes me feel so warm on the inside that these people actually value my thoughts and opinions.

8) The smell of the raaaain.

9) Pinterest. I don't think I even need to explain this.

10) Daydreaming. Although, let's be real here. Who doesn't?

I first saw this tag here. Zankyu, Cookiecrumbs! Originally, I planned to make a list with 99 things then it went down to 30, then 15 and now, 10. Its pretty late here and I've got school tomorrow, hence such a choice. Ha. Two blog posts in 2 consecutive days? Tis an achievement guys!  YAAAAS!

Spacey Dream - UBC Day 1

The October Ultimate Blogging Challenge Started. On the 1st of October... Today is the 4th of October...... Whyyy?  I've got to catch up! And fast!

Anyways, lets get into today's post. I was going through my diary (ya ya, I keep a diary. Or try to, at least. )and I saw this narration of a dream that I'd written on the 22nd of this August. I think I wrote it in the wee hours of morning just after I'd woken up. And I'll be sharing EXACTLY what I wrote. Yep. No paraphrasing at all.

Here we go...

" Yesterday night, I had a dream. I dreamt that I'd gone to space with a man and a woman. I was fixing something outside the window."

"It was cool. I could see galaxies far away. We landed on a planet to rescue a man and it turns out that he's bad"- Huh. Wonder what that reminds me of - "There's an emergency and we have to try and return to our spaceship."

" But we were late and we had to wait until it came back and was available" -What? Does it even work like that? -" The man hit the man a lot. "- ....... I don't even know what to say. I'm very much rethinking this whole 'not paraphrasing' plan. Oh well, let's continue, shall we? *clears throat.and adjusts glasses*

"I wanted to help but I couldn't. Then he came to me. He tried to hurt but it didn't hurt for me." - Wee hours of morning, remember? Gah, I'm sorry. My brain wasn't functioning smoothly.

"Then he sent his dog 'Luna' " - Luna. Ha. Haha. Ha. - on us - me and the woman. We both greeted it as it came and it was friendly towards us." - I will never fathom how exactly that plan came around. - "So yeah. This was my dream. "

I have to get used to this whole 'posting once a day' thing. Especially considering how much I need to catch up. Anyways, bye for now!

Ultimate Blog Challenge is coming up!

What do I write?  What do I write? As a blogger, why don't these sorta things just pop into my mind?

Anyway, the Ultimate Blog Challenge is coming up really soon and I'm preeeetty excited.

A new idea every day for a month? Whoa. Since I'm mostly too lazy to get up off my lazy butt to blog on a regular basis, maaaybe this might be just the thing to help make it a habit. Who knows?  Lets just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best!

A List for my Holidays - Results

Alright, its time to tell you how well I've done my List for the holidays. I only listed the things I did cuz I didn't do everything on my list (sowy! ) but I did what  I could. So, yeah!

Learn how to whistle

Learning how to whistle wasn't the easiest thing in the world to learn how to do. On my first couple (okay, okay- it was more than a couple times), I was spluttering and spit was flying almost everywhere( lovely picture that is, eh? ).

As of now, there's a sort of whistley sound but I've gotta practise a LOT more if I want to perfect it.

Read 3 books

I'm still reading the third one but does it matter if 2 of the books are audio books?  I hope not.

Make mug cakes

Yas, I finally did it!

I browsed through multiple recipes of mug cakes on the internet and none of them OUTRIGHT mentioned exactly what type of mug they were using(microwavable or not).
So we ended up using ceramic ones and it worked just fine. We followed the recipe from here.

I was really careless during the cooking process and ended up spilling sugar ALL over the floor. Mom, if you're reading this, please don't have a heart attack. We cleared it up preeetty well. I think. Although there just might be a colony of ants outside having the greatest feast of their lives. Heheh.

Anyway, ours were done in about 1 minute and 45 seconds. My sis' said that it "tastes like cake but in jelly form." I had to agree. It wasn't the most spongy or lightest cake but for a less than 5-minute snack, I can't complain.
We went all out and piled on ice-cream, chocolate sauce and any other chocolate-y stuff that we could find. T'was nice.

So, yeah. That was all the stuff I accomplished. I 'm a bit disappointed that I didn't do more and I want to try harder next time (and there WILL be a next time). School starts again tomorrow and they'll start handing out the answer sheets.... Oh Lord.

A List for My Holidays

Hey guys! I know it's been a long time but since the laptop wasn't working properly, I wasn't able to post but now since I've got my own phone, things are gonna be different. Very different....MWAHAHAHA!!!

My exams just finished yesterday and today I thought I'd post the list of things I'm planning to do for my holidays.
Finish at least one anime series
I've already started Steins Gate so I'm hoping to finish it during the holidays.

If I still have enough time after finishing it, maybe I'll give some other series a try. Noragami, Golden Time or Nisekoi maybe?

    Play mine craft

I've been wanting to give this game a go for a long time and well, why not?

    Learn how to whistle

Mainly because I think that knowing how to do a good whistle would just make me feel cool.....What? Why are you looking at me as if I'm crazy ?*huff*
    Read 3 books

Umm.... Do I even need to explain? I enjoy reading so, yeah.

    Make mug cakes

You might recall from one of my previous posts the time I wanted to make a mug cake but couldn't cuz' we didn't have a microwave oven(T'was a sad, sad time I tell you).

But now I'm staying at my Grandparents' place and guess what?! *whispers* They have one.......NOTHING CAN STOP ME NOW!
    *****
Alright, alright I know this list doesn't contain activities like hiking or  going on a road trip or whatever but these are things I'm looking forward to doing. There are 12 free days ahead of me. I'll update soon!

Oh, and by the way, remember Special Instructions? Yeah, I got the package but they didn't do any of the stuff asked. *sniff*

    A Strange Habit

Let me tell you about an old habit of mine. It was something I did whenever I got my hands on Hide & Seek biscuits.

The biscuit looks something like this -

Observe, ladies and gentlemen, as I proceed to show you this extremely complicated  task.

We start off with a seemingly regular chocolate biscuit. Why is that? Because it IS a regular chocolate biscuit! (Erm, okay that was horrible. Let's just move on.)

I start at one corner and carefully bite.

Then I flip it and bite the other end.

    And again.

Until finally, we are left with this!

    The BEAUTIFUL middle piece!

It IS an achievement, OKAY? Do you know how easily the entire biscuit can just break?
    Do ya? DO YA?
Then, my friends, comes the best bit. The icing on the cake. I go through all this trouble just so I can do the following thing. I take a bite out of it and say(to no one in particular) -

    I know. I know...................AMAZING RIGHT?

    First Post

Hey everyone, this is my first post and I'll just quickly explain a bit about myself.

Skipperann is my pen name that I'll be using for this blog. I am 13 years old and I live with my younger sister, brother and mother. My father works abroad.

I love to read, hair styling, listening to music, singing and...planning! Most of the time I dream about doing really AWESOME things but when the opportunity arises I'm like.............meh.

Anyway that'll be all for now. See ya.

    Special Instructions

While I was ordering some books online, I saw the area to type in the Gift Message and Special Instructions. Usually I would ignore it but at that time, I was thinking- 'Hmm...Why not?' So I began brainstorming hilarious gift messages that might even make the people working for the website, atleast smile.

Pick up your shoe. Very original, I know. I just wanted it to be as RANDOM as possible.
    I finally decided on this-

I am looking forward to the parcel. Very much indeed!

    Spinach Royalty

So the other day, my mom bought some spinach. It looked like a bouquet so of course I used that to my maximum advantage.

I started parading in front of my house with it. It feels good you see. Maybe this can be used as a method to promote self-esteem. Who knows?
(In all honesty, you should really try this. It makes you feel good.)

Just make sure no one sees you. That doesn't feel so great (at least to me it didn't).

    Annabelle Scare

Today is officially the beginning of my SUMMER VACATION!!! YAY! I'll definitely post more often(I say that in almost all my posts don't I? Sorry about that!). Also, I'm sorry that the title doesn't make much sense. Maybe it will make more sense once you've finished reading this post.

My sister Lily, really loves horror movies. I, on the other hand, do not. So while she was watching Annabeth  Annabelle, I came up with a plan to scare her.

I thought of calling her through the phone and say - "Annabelle, Annabelle " as creepily as I could and then play a recording of a scream. She would definitely freak out. When the movie was about to end I ran upstairs and shut myself in a room. Using a spare phone, I then dialed the number and waited. However, it was out of credit . So I called her with my mom's phone and waited. I heard it ring.

    What I hoped would happen

(And then she would start freaking out)

    What actually happened

I guess it occurred to me for a second before but I fully realized it then. Since I was using my mom's phone she would have definitely recognized the phone number on the screen when she went to pick up the telephone. I felt like giving myself a face-palm.

I went downstairs and Lily told me she actually had been pretty scared. I guess it was mostly because of the movie itself. Apparently, she found it scarier than 'Conjuring'.

Anyway, April fool's day is next month and I'm sure it shall be most pleasant. I'll definitely be better prepared then! Also, summer course begins the day after tomorrow. I really hope it'll be fun for me and my friends.

    That's all for now. Bye!

    Cooking

I know I haven't been updating my blog as regular as I should. When I was asked why by a close relative, I simply replied that I didn't have much to write about. She told me that as writers, we can't simply wait for a topic to come along. Whatever happens, we WRITE!

THEREFORE WHAT SHALL I DO? I WILL SLEEP!
    Just kidding.
    I WILL WRITE!!!!

So a few days ago I made dosa for my family. Its a typical Indian dish. I'm usually good at it but this time it turned out..erm..different.

    What it should look like:-

    What mine looked like:-

I promise you I did not tear up my dosa just so I'd have something to write about. The pan was sticky and it was hard to get it off. Hence the unique appearance.

Since we're on the topic of cooking (sort of) I'll tell you other stuff. A few weeks back, I saw this recipe on Pinterest. It was called 'brownie in a mug'. Basically, you can make a single-serving of chocolate brownie in a mug in about 1 minute. Who doesn't want that?!

BUT all the recipes called for a microwave-oven. We don't have a microwave oven. We have an oven. But I ignored the thought. My excuse was that they were both box-like-things that heat food...... heeheeheeheeheehee...

I was scouring the kitchen for the ingredients when my mom came in and asked me what I was doing. Needless to say, when I reached the part about cooking it in an oven, she seemed shocked. She told me that cooking it in an oven would only crack the cup. Boohoo.

I WILL do it someday though.

    JUST LOOK AT IT!!!!

    An Interesting Sight

Hey there! How long has it been? My last post was nearly a month ago. Heh heh.
To be honest, I really didn't have much to write about at that time.

Anyway, during class, I received a note from my friend who sits to my left. In our school at least 5 students sit in the same bench so nobody noticed.

I'm a girl who wears specs so I was confused at first because my glasses seemed just fine. I began fiddling with my glasses but she shook her head and took back the note. She scribbled something more and passed it back to me.

    I looked at the teacher.

Bwahahahahahha! Oh my gosh, I couldn't help bursting out in a fit of giggles. I showed the note to my friends sitting to my right. They both looked at the teacher and started cracking up. I guess we were all busy staring blankly at the text to notice it sooner. Soon, our entire bench was laughing with our textbooks hiding our faces.
( Note: Trust me, this actually happened. Apparently, the teacher had no idea what was going on and she didn't even notice that her glasses were slanting for the LONGEST time!)

The moment she set them straight was one of the most heart-wrenching moments of my life.

Oh! And did you notice that there's a bigger space between 'in' and 'my' from the first sentence when I'm telling you about this event? I put two spaces........ BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!..... so evil.
